In the heart of Trastevere, the Trattoria da Augusto is an authentic Roman osteria just like those of the past. Founded by the legendary Augusto, today it is carried forward with Roman pride by his son Sandro, keeper of a tradition that can be felt in every corner of the place. The atmosphere is rustic and genuine, just like the dishes that come out of the kitchen: rigatoni cacio e pepe and all'amatriciana, agnello alla cacciatora and pollo alla romana tell the best of capital city cuisine. Some dishes follow the rhythm of the week according to tradition: baccalà on Friday, gnocchi on Thursday, trippa romana on Saturday, in a calendar that may vary but that is part of the charm of this place. The formula is simple and effective, but success comes at a price: it's not uncommon to find a line outside the door, some notice a somewhat uneven quality, and the service can at times be informal. No reservations are accepted: the advice is to arrive early and wait your turn comfortably seated on the terrace. A piece of authentic Roman cuisine to enjoy as if you were at home, in the beating heart of Trastevere.
