In the heart of Rome, just steps from Piazza di Spagna, the trattoria Otello alla Concordia holds nearly three hundred years of history. It all began in the mid-18th century, when the old inn, then called "La Concordia" and belonging to Madame Smith, became a stopping point for travelers and pilgrims journeying to the city. The name changed towards the end of the 19th century, but it was in 1948 that the establishment took on its current identity: Giuseppe Caporicci, known as "Otello", took it over together with his wife Nora Geronzi, giving rise to what would become a trattoria loved by artisans, artists, actors and filmmakers. For over sixty years the Caporicci family has carried on this tradition with dedication, today in the hands of the grandchildren Cecilia, Giulia and Andrea, who have taken up the torch from Nora and Otello, keeping intact the intimate and welcoming atmosphere that made the place famous. The courtyard of Palazzo Ludovisi Boncompagni, shaded by a pergola of vines and a century-old wisteria that blooms every spring, is today the heart of a space that has expanded over time to include three indoor rooms and a covered veranda. A rustic and homely setting, ideal for savoring the most authentic Roman cuisine: from carbonara to amatriciana, up to saltimbocca alla romana, dishes that tell the genuine flavors of Roman tradition. Otello alla Concordia remains, still today, one of the landmarks of Roman dining in the Campo Marzio district, a place where history, taste and hospitality have been intertwined for generations.
