Grazie a Dio è Venerdì is located in the heart of Rione Monti, overlooking the quiet Piazza degli Zingari, a place reminiscent of a small medieval village. In the past, this square, thanks to its acoustics and its position in the oldest rione of Rome, was used by passing gypsies for street performances. In the 1950s it became the set of the film "La banda degli onesti" with Totò. Despite the passing of time, the atmosphere has remained suspended, preserved in the scents of old Rome. Born on September 6, 1996 from the friendship and passion of Fabrizio and Enzo, the restaurant has become over the years a reference point for pizza, thanks to selected ingredients and the wood-fired oven that represents the heart of the restaurant. An oven that for decades has baked the dough while preserving its original structure, dating back to the days of the old neighborhood bakery from which the restaurant was born. Two rooms, frescoed by contemporary artist Ilir Zefi, welcome 75 people. With 25 years of history, Grazie a Dio è Venerdì offers pizza romana: thin, crispy and digestible, baked in one of the oldest wood-fired ovens in the city, once used for bread-making. Fabrizio and Enzo personally oversee the selection of ingredients, favoring local sourcing where possible: selected flours, carefully dosed lievito madre to aid digestibility, iodized salt, extra virgin olive oil and Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP, along with everything else that makes up the menu offerings, renewed over time. The care in preparation is found not only in the pizza, but also in the seasonal specialties, homemade desserts and the gelato di Pizzo Calabro, recognized since the 1960s as a typical product widespread in Italy and Europe. Grazie a Dio è Venerdì is today a frequented destination for Italians and foreigners alike, in the heart of Rome, between the history of the rione and gastronomic tradition.
