Il Focolare was founded in 1944 in Monteverde Vecchio by Calogero Stagnetta and his wife Maria, as a small family-run restaurant. Today the tradition continues with Roberto Stagnetta and his children Andrea, Sara and Roberta, who oversee the dining room and kitchen, keeping the original approach alive. The menu is tied to traditional Roman cuisine and seafood, with dishes such as fettuccine con carciofi e vongole veraci, linguine con ragù di scorfano e basilico, gnocchi con gamberi e asparagi, paccheri con gallinella di mare e pomodoretto, filetto di orata agli agrumi. Worth trying is the freshly whipped spuma di zabaione, served on a bed of fragoline di bosco. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, suitable for families, couples and business lunches.
